(2) Increase biodiversity conservation through bottom-up approach (which involves volunteer participation and citizen science). The impact of the demo will be described at the end of the project implementation. During the implementation of the project in a specific area some intermediary results will be delivered, and all these results will be published to support the dissemination and the sustainability of the project.
Implemented Actions

Habitat Restoration and Management
Creation of shallow wetland scrapes to enhance feeding and roosting habitats for waterbirds, benefiting species like the Icelandic Black-tailed Godwit.

Infrastructure Development
Construction of bird-watching hides and a looped nature trail with educational signage, improving visitor experience and facilitating wildlife observation.

Community Engagement
Active involvement of local groups, including Glounthaune Community Association and Glounthaune Men’s Shed, in conservation efforts, infrastructure projects, and educational activities.

Educational Initiatives
Development of activity books for primary school children and hosting of school tours to promote environmental awareness among younger generations.

Research and Monitoring
Implementation of a Conservation Management Plan (2020–2024) focusing on habitat management, species monitoring, and infrastructure improvement to support both conservation and public engagement.

Future Planning
Ongoing efforts to develop a long-term strategy, including plans for an interactive nature education and research center, to ensure the sustainability of conservation and educational activities.
